Thank you for taking the time to read my letter.
My name is Edwin and I am 24 years old. You surely get a lot of these letters from prospective Au Pairs, but rest assured you will not regret to read about my reasons why I want to become your Au Pair. I’m an aspiring educator/teacher from Kenya. Currently in my last semester of university, I will be graduating in July, and my heart is set on exploring the world afterward.
I live with my mom, four sisters, two nieces and two nephews. I have a deep passion for teaching, dedicating my time to tutoring my siblings, and some neighborhood kids. Soccer also fills my days, and I've come to understand the intricacies of children's emotions while managing to infuse fun into all our activities. I love reading novels and watching movies.
My upbringing involved taking care of my younger siblings when my mother worked long shifts. I cooked, cleaned, and prepared them for school. Now my younger sister and I collaborate in tutoring school kids in our neighborhood. The responsibility I took on after my father's passing has shaped me into a caring and responsible individual. My perspective on discipline aligns with understanding and talking to children, a value instilled in me by my wise grandma.
I would love to become your next Au Pair because I love children and enjoy spending time with them. I am prepared and I am well aware of the fact that being like a big brother for your children comes along with responsibilities for them and it will not always be just play and fun. My calm and patient personality will help me to master more difficult situations for instance when the kids are tired or don’t want to listen to me.
I expect that in the first couple of days I will be exhausted at night because I guess taking care of children the whole time can be tiring. But I am sure that I will adapt to the new tasks and daily routine quickly and become a big help for you.
Living with me is really easy as I am not a demanding person. I do respect that the house is your house and that I have to follow your house rules. If something works not quite as it should, I prefer to talk instead of ignoring things.
I have never been abroad but I am used to not seeing my family for weeks so I don’t think I will become particular homesick. Leaving my close-knit family will be challenging but I’m prepared to adapt and ensure a smooth transition. I believe this experience will not only change my life but potentially make a positive impact on yours and your children's lives.
