Dear host family,?my name is Joanna and I'm a 25 year old girl/woman from Bonn, Germany. I am currently looking to work as an Aupair, Nanny or Babysitter for a family for 1-5 months, earliest start date February. I will be available to work until the end of June. I already worked as an Aupair before and therefore know what the experience is like. My last experience was amazing and I am still in regular contact with the family today.
I come from a big, international family, which is one of the many reasons why I love getting to know new cultures. I have two sisters (one older, one younger). My mother works as an English and history teacher in Germany and my father teaches engineering at a college in the UK.
I have graduated High School and am currently completing my Bachelor Degree at the University of Bonn.?I study English Studies and History and will be done with my studies by the end of January. I am looking to start my Master Degree in Creative Writing in the Summer of 2024.
Throughout my years of High School I worked as a Babysitter on a regular basis. During this time I also completed a three week internship at a Kindergarten in Bonn, Germany. After School I spent six months living/working as an Aupair in England and my experience was very positive. During University I worked at A High School. Overall I have worked with children between the ages of 0-18 and therefore have a lot of experience. I also come from a very big family with lots of cousins, so I am used to looking after children : )
I am half German, half British and grew up bilingual, so I am fluent in both languages. ?I have basic knowledge of French, having studied it for 8 years in school, as well as having spent four months living in Caen, Normandie with Erasmus during my studies. ?I am currently trying to improve my Italian skills.
The main reason for me wanting to work as an Aupair or similar again is the following: I am looking for something to do between my Bachelor (which ends in January 2014) and my Master (which starts in the Summer 2024). The reason why I chose the Aupair option is due to the fact that it is a great opportunity to live in a new city, to improve my language skills and to get to know a new culture, as well as new people. As I mentioned previously, I am a writer and currently working on a new novel. However, writing can be a rather lonely "activity" and for me not social enough to pass the time between my Bachelor's and Masters. Since I also really want to improve my Italian (if I would end up in Italy)/ French (if I would end up in France), working as an Aupair is a great opportunity to do both. For me working with children comes very naturally and I love doing it.
Probably the most important thing for me when working as an Aupair is mutual respect. I am a very kind, responsible and patient person and love working with children. I will always be respectful and friendly and expect the same treatment in return. I understand that letting someone into your family and welcoming them into your home is a big thing. I will always respect your families privacy, but if so wished will be happy to also spend some time with all of you, hoping to get to know you better. I am however at an age where I also value privacy and like to spend my free time doing my own thing and therefore would be happy about a clear distinction between "working hours" and "free time". ?Regarding the Routine I will be happy discussing a plan with the family. For me the most important things are free weekends and enough time during the week to still have some time to myself. I am open to babysitting at night, if parents wish to have a night out and also understand that plans can change and therefore the routine sometimes does.
