MY FAMILY AND I
Dear host family, ?my name is Alyssa and I'm 18. I live in France, in Normandy near by the sea. I have lived in France for 16 years now. In my family, we are 4. My mother is Polish and work as a yoga teacher and my father is French and work as a trader. I have an older sister with whom I get along very well and also a cat called Tokyo.
MY EDUCATION
I went to school in France and finished high school last year. At the beginning of this year I tried Med school and loved it but the pressure was too intense and I didn't liked the mentality of the students there. So I decided to stop and focus on my self to find what I really wanted to do. I worked a little bit, and now I am focusing more on my TOEFL exam and driving license.
MY PERSONALITY
When people don’t know me, I can give the impression of being shy, but little by little, I open easily. I am a very happy, curious, sporty and creative person.
WHAT I DO IN MY FREE TIME
I am very curious, I have an artistic profile. I paint, draw, embroider, sculpt.. I love music, it has a very important place in my life, even though i don't play instrument very well, I try to learn a bit of ukulélé by myself. I also love cinema and I do sports (running, body karate and yoga with my mom.) This summer I am registered for a 14km race !! Sometimes in Winter we go skiing with my cousins and as I live near the sea, I spend all my summer in the water. The ocean has also a really important meaning to me. My sister and I do paddle, kayak and we also use the boat. We often go fishing with family. I also like to roller-skate and i use my bike all the time to go to one place to another. I’m also passionate about cooking. I love Italian and Japanese cuisine.
MY EXPERIENCE WITH KIDS
I have never had an experience as an au pair yet but I can’t wait to find the family that will welcome me!! I am very close to my French family side and I often look after my little cousins who are 8 and 12 years old (twice a month). With them I love doing activities like cooking waffles, making board games, DIY and many other things. I also helped an 11-year-old to do his homework for 5 months. I love helping others learn and understand and experience new things.
MY LANGUAGE SKILLS
I love languages,I'm fluent in French. I have a good level in English (especially for understanding) but I would like to improve my speaking skills by becoming fluent and more confident. I took Chinese classes for 7 years. Sadly, by not practicing this year, I lost a lot but I'll be very pleased to practice and learn again. My mother I Polish. Unfortunately, I never learnt to speak this language fluently but I can understand it a little bit.
MY MOTIVATION
I have been thinking about becoming an au pair for 1 year. I have always dreamt of travelling and discovering new countries and cultures. I think that becoming an au pair can be a very rewarding sharing experience for me as well as for the family. I look forward to helping you discover the French language and culture. Besides, I love helping people and making them happy, especially if they’re kids. I want to become an au pair to learn more about myself while sharing good times and creating strong bonds with family and children. I can help with household chores, cook, help with homework, and do creative and artistic activities with children.
MY EXPECTATIONS
By becoming an au pair, I would like to find a caring a loving family that will consider me as a member of their family, more like a big sister than just a babysitter.
OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATIONS
I don’t have any allergies. In my family we don’t often eat red meat but I’m not a picky eater and I’m open to try new things.
