Though I do not have a document proving I have provided over 200 hours of infant care, I certainly have in my many years of experience, including infant twins. I have worked with children of different mental and physical capacities and have been a great support for many families including my own since I was a child myself. I have taken a SAFE course for foster or adoptive parents back in Canada, and am confident in handling different emergencies or situations that may come up with integrity and grace.
I started babysitting quite young, and worked summer camps in the summers of high school and through a bit of university. I also continued babysitting through these years in the evenings and weekends, and spent much of my free time learning about child psychology and development best practices, and work with a secure attachment, child first mentality. That is, that I am here to support this child (or children) in becoming the best versions of themselves, and I always use positive reinforcement and attachment as the motivation. Of course in doing this I support the whole family, and work as a team with the parents to support the child (or children) development is on track and how to help when it is on a different track.

I do have 2 lovely little dogs that come with me everywhere I go and have gotten along great with the last few families I have worked for. They don’t shed like most dogs (hypoallergenic fur), and are extremely gentle, well behaved, and trained. They have lived with cats, newborns, and toddlers, and never snapped or anything that could have harmed anyone, even when they have had their tail or fur or ears being yanked at, they are really good girls, and quite small as well (a collective 10kgs, both can fit on my lap). They are part of the package with me, I am not giving them up, and they have been loved deeply by every family they have joined me with.

I am excellent at creating systems to help neurodiverse children (if you don’t know what that means, don’t worry, or you can google it or chat with me about it if you’re curious), which can be helpful for any child. I’m also familiar with some physical limitations and am happy to work with children of different capacities with respect, and integrity. I have read nearly all the books, and coupled with about 20 years of experience, I am quite comfortable in this role, and have been an excellent support to new parents especially.
