Though I do not have a document proving I have provided over 200 hours of infant care, I certainly have in my many years of experience. I have worked with children of different mental and physical capacities and have been a great support for many families including my own since I was a child myself. I have taken a SAFE course for foster or adoptive parents back in Canada, and am confident handling different emergencies or situations that may come up with integrity and grace.
I started out babysitting quite young, and worked summer camps in the summers of high school and through a bit of university. I also continued babysitting through these years in the evenings and weekends, and spent much of my free time learning about child psychology and development best practices, and work with a secure attachment, child first mentality. That is that I am here to support this child (or children) in becoming the best versions of themselves, and I always use positive reinforcement and attachment as the motivation.
I do have 2 lovely little dogs that come with me everywhere I go and have gotten along great with the last few families I have worked for. They don’t shed like most dogs (hypoallergenic fur), and are extremely well behaved and trained. They have lived with cats, newborns, and toddlers, and never snapped or anything that could have harmed anyone, even when they have had their tail or fur or ears being yanked at, they are really good girls, and quite small as well.
I am excellent at creating systems to help neurodiverse children (if you don’t know what that means, don’t worry, or you can google it or chat with me about it if you’re curious). I’m also familiar with some physical limitations and am happy to work with children of different capacities with respect, and integrity.
