Dear Host Family,

I would like to introduce myself to you and let you know a little about me. My name is Nicca Jane. I’m a graduate of BA in Communication. I am 23 years old. I live in the small city of Albay where the famous Mayon Volcano is located. We are six in the family. I am the youngest. I have two older sisters and one older brother. We have a lot of pets too; we have four dogs and ten cats. I am very soft-hearted when it comes to animals.

I would describe myself as a cheerful, responsible, friendly, and caring person. In my free time, I watched a lot of movies and documentaries. I do love making DIY stuff arts and crafts. I'm into photography and nature. Dancing is also one of my hobbies. Also, I enjoy playing with the kids in our barrio. I even acted as their teacher and they were my students. I teach them how to write and read. I have an experience in taking care of children. I’m the one who babysits my cousin’s children. When my cousin got pregnant at an early age, she was disowned by her parents. So I let her stay at our house in the meantime and insisted on babysitting her daughter while she was at work. I play the kalimba for her. She even fell asleep while I was playing it. I am very fond of children because they are so innocent and adorable. When I was in my first year, we had a field immersion. We visited one of the kindergarten schools in the city. We taught the kids some Arts and Dancing. Seeing the kids, happy is just so overwhelming. Also, I worked as a Studio Photographer in Manila. It is a Photography Studio taking photographs of families, newborn babies, pre-birthday shoots mostly toddlers. It’s a bit challenging because you have to capture the smiles on the camera. For them to laugh and smile, I had to do things that would make them smile such as sing, dance, and do silly stuff.

When I heard about the Au Pair program, I was so excited to experience having a wonderful bond with children and make an unforgettable relationship with them. I’ve wanted to be an au pair ever since when I was in my second year. I know it’s a great experience for me since I haven’t been abroad before. I love to visit other countries, especially around Europe, and meet new people. I love learning new things, especially the languages. I am fond of European cultures and history too. I will appreciate this opportunity to live and meet your humble family. One more thing, I am very hard-working. I can do basic household chores. I can cook but not that well. I hope you will allow me to cook some of my favorite Filipino foods for you and your family while I am with you.
