Introduction
My name is Nastassia, and I am a recent graduate from Minerva University in San Francisco, where I studied Computational Science and Statistics and minored in Economics and Postcolonial Studies. My thesis was on AI's orientalism in emotion recognition in art, presented as data journalism. And my big academic interest is deploying AI safely, equitably, and consciously, especially for younger generations.
I was born in Minsk, Belarus, and at 17 moved to San Francisco for college. During my undergraduate degree, I lived in Seoul, Berlin, Taipei, and Washington, DC, where I worked in event management and policy research and did some analytics gigs.
In my free time, I enjoy stretching and dancing, having competed in ballroom for 8 years. I like classic Russian literature, with my favorites being Bulgakov and Gogol (and he is Ukrainian). My favorite modern author is Svetlana Alexievich, with how she depicts the struggles and personal stories of the post-Soviet generation (I dabble in history here and there).
I believe it is extremely hard to put everything important into a few paragraphs, but hopefully, this is enough to show some parts of me. I am excited to learn more about you.
Also, just realized it would be nice to say why I want to be an au pair, the answer is simple: growing up, I had two women, who I know refer to as my close friends, but back then were strangers that my mom paid, who shaped me fundamentally, and having finished undergrad, it feels like time to return the favor. In elementary school, twice a week, a young college student who majored in English lit hung out with me, taking me to acting classes, and gifted me books in English; and in middle-through-high school, I met an assistant college instructor, who is now doing her PhD in Italy, who taught me patience, due diligence, respect, and English on the side.
