We are seeking a compassionate and reliable individual to join our family as a Senior Care Supporter and Housekeeper. This position involves providing caregiving and companionship for our 83-year-old father who is currently battling cancer.

Additionally, you will be responsible for cooking nutritious meals for our family of 3 who are on a whole food, mostly plant-based diet, 1 who is gluten intolerant so most meals are gluten-free.
You will also be responsible for running errands, mostly just grocery shopping, and if you can, helping to care for our senior dog (feeding and opening the door for potty breaks in the backyard)

The ideal candidate will have experience in senior caregiving, light housekeeping, and cooking (whole foods, plant-based, vegan, vegetarian, and anti-inflammatory meal prep experience is a plus), along with a strong sense of empathy and attention to detail.

Responsibilities:

Caregiving and Companionship:
- Assist our father with daily activities and tasks around the house as needed, considering his limited mobility and pain.
- Provide support and assistance with mobility, he currently uses a walker around the house but may need help getting up or with adjusting pillows on the couch or bed.
- Offer companionship and engage in meaningful conversations. His first language is Spanish.

House Cleaning:
- Perform general housekeeping duties to maintain cleanliness.
- Dust surfaces regularly to minimize allergens.
- Occasionally clean hardwood floors and vacuum 2-3 bedrooms.
- Keep the kitchen and 2 1/2 bathrooms clean and sanitized.
- Assist with general housekeeping tasks as needed.
Note: we have a Roomba robot vacuum cleaner to help. :)

Cooking:
- Prepare whole foods, plant-based, anti-inflammatory meals for three people.
- Accommodate gluten-free dietary needs for one individual.
- Follow provided recipes and find new recipes that meet dietary restrictions.

Errands:
- Handle grocery shopping for household needs.
- Have reliable transportation to the store about 10 minutes from our home

Pet Care:
- Help feed our senior dog
- Let the dog out into the backyard for restroom breaks.
- Provide basic care and attention to our dog as part of the family.

Optional Live-In Arrangement Preferred:
- Open to discussing live-in help with a private room and full bathroom
- Shared living spaces include the living room, kitchen, dining room, back patio with a pool, and nature behind the house.
- Please respect the privacy and personal space of the family members

Requirements:
- Experience in caregiving for seniors or individuals with health challenges preferred.
- Proficiency in house cleaning tasks and maintaining a clean environment.
- Ability to cook nutritious meals, preferably with knowledge of whole foods and plant-based recipes.
- Familiarity with gluten-free cooking is a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail is a plus.
- Reliable and punctual with excellent time management skills.
- Ability to handle shopping errands efficiently.
- A genuine love for animals and experience in pet care is a plus.
- Non-smoker with no contact with children due to the senior's weak immune system from cancer and cancer treatment.
- Respectful and peaceful demeanor.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect family privacy.

We are a Colombian-American and Salvadoran-American adult family of 3, and we value respect and a peaceful living environment. Our senior father is 83 years old and retired. He lives with his daughter, 39, and her husband, 40, who both work from home and occasionally travel out of town for a few days out of the year for work. Our neighborhood is quiet, primarily populated by seniors. Our senior family member must be protected from potential illness or exposure to germs.
