My name is Amélie, I am 20 years old and I live in Switzerland. In May 2023, I graduated from the "Ecole de culture générale" specializing in the field of pedagogy, and currently I am taking a gap year. Since October, I have been working as a nanny for a family in a town near Basel. I take care of three children, two six-year-old twin boys and an 11-year-old girl. My responsibilities include taking the children to their activities, organizing playtime, helping with homework, preparing light meals and snacks, and assisting them in tidying their rooms.
Prior to my current job as a nanny, I had been babysitting neighbor’s children for several years.
After my gap year, I plan to study pedagogy to become a primary school teacher and teach French. This is one of the reasons why I have decided to become an Au Pair. The idea of working with children while having the opportunity to improve my French language skills seems perfect to me. For this improvement I would like to combine working as an Au Pair with visiting a language school. I am also thrilled at the prospect of meeting new people, experiencing a new place, and immersing myself in the French culture.
