I am a final year university student at Central Saint Martins, University of Arts London, graduating July 2024. I am originally from Tokyo, Japan, and moved to the UK in pursuit of gaining global knowledge in the field of graphic design. I devote my time and energy into the arts - I strive to learn, create, and share in any situation. As I graduate in a short time, I am looking for a full-time live in position starting August 2024.
I am equally as passionate to working with children and traveling as I am to the arts. I continuously make opportunities for myself to combine my passions whenever I can, which is why I’ve many experiences volunteering in new countries as an assistant teacher while leading creative activities inside classrooms.
As for my childcare experiences:
For the summer sports camp hosted in my secondary school, I worked as one of the camp leaders taking care of 80-100 children ages 6-13 for three weeks every summer for 5 consecutive years. We led and engaged the campers in all types of sports activities.
I volunteered for non-profit organizations in Vietnam, Portugal, and Tanzania as an assistant primary school teacher - ranging work from teaching English, exchanging cultures, leading arts, crafts, athletic activities; and supporting their emotional needs. I have also completed a volunteer program in Morocco recently to teach English to EFL students through conversations, discussions, and debates.
I have experiences working as a nanny for families that come from various countries and I tend to build an older sister-like relationship with the children every time. I am able to offer more than what is typically expected as a nanny - not just picking them up from school and making dinner, but things like encouraging them to play new sports, learn a new skill, applying problem-solving skills, and teaching etiquettes. One last thing I love to bring to the children: sharing everything I know about Japanese culture, like teaching the language, cooking Japanese food together, doing traditional arts and crafts, and showing the best children’s animes that I grew up watching.
