Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for taking the time to read my letter.

My name is Rosie, and I am 18 years old. I am currently interning at an International School and living in Muscat, Oman as part of my gap year! My home, where I live with my both my parents and my 8-year-old Labrador; Rocco, is located in the south of England, in Surrey. I just completed my A levels in late June where I did Film Studies, Media Studies, and Health and Social Care. I love travelling and exploring new places, which is why I moved abroad as quickly as I could, I'm now ready to experience different places even more!

In my spare time, I love to read and learn about new things, especially current and important topics that go on in the world. I also love to care for people! For my last two years of school, I took on Health and Social Care as one of my A Levels. It was my favourite subject as I felt I connected with it on a deeper level. All my life I’ve loved to care for people, whether that be young children, vulnerable people, elderly people, even animals! All through my last two years of school, and even more this last Summer, I cared for a local family. I looked after two children; Raffy (7-10 yrs) and Alice (5-8 yrs), I helped with their homework, prepped meals, took them out, entertained them (Although, I would argue that they entertained me more than I them!), and looked after their puppy and house constantly.

Although I don’t have a lot of experience, you must know my heart is in the right place. When I was young, I cared for my great grandmother deeply. I remember visiting her in a care home and feeling as though the people around her were not treating her like a real human being who had her own opinions and views. From that point on I knew I wanted that to change. I didn't see her often as she lived all the way in South Africa with the rest of my father’s family, however, when I did see her, I would make sure to have long conversations with her and learn all about her life, just to give her that sense of autonomy and dignity that she didn't often get. Some people can forget that the elderly are people who have lived full lives, they know themselves better than anyone and they are still human, and I will make sure the person I will care for will know that I understand that!

I would love to become your next Carer because I love people and enjoy making sure they feel sade, well-looked after, but also secure in themselves and still attached to their independence. I am prepared and I am well aware of the fact that this job can be hard work and definitely not a walk in the park. My calm and patient personality will help me to master more difficult situations.

Living with me is really easy as I am not a demanding person, and I will adapt to the new tasks and daily routine quickly and become a big help for you. I do respect that the house is your house and that I have follow your house rules. If something works not quite as it should, I prefer to talk instead of ignoring things.

I have been living away from my parents for a few months now and although I miss them, I love the newfound sense of freedom, so I know I won't get homesick. I am also used to living in different countries, surrounded by different cultures as I was born in Muscat and lived in Oman for 14 years before moving to the UK. I went to an international school and met/befriended people from all over the world, developing my communication skills efficiently and effectively.
