Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for taking the time to read my letter.

My name is Rosie, and I am 18 years old. I am currently interning at an International School and living in Muscat, Oman as part of my gap year! My home, where I live with my both my parents and my 8-year-old Labrador; Rocco, is located in the south of England, in Surrey. I just completed my A levels in late June where I did Film Studies, Media Studies, and Health and Social Care. I love traveling and exploring new places, which is why I moved abroad as quickly as I could, I'm now ready to experience different places even more!

In my spare time, I love to read and learn about new things, especially current and important topics that go on in the world. I also love to petsit! All through my last two years of school, and even more this last Summer, I cared for many local family’s dogs. I looked after one Show Cocker Spaniel, called Jackson, starting from when he was around 8 months to 3 years old! When I would care for him, I would walk and feed him daily, play with him, help train him, as well as housesit for the family. He was an adorable dog, but he was hard work as he was still a puppy, however, I handled it well and felt as though I had tamed him over the 2 and a half years I looked after him.

I then started running a small dogsitting and walking business over my last couple of years of school in my local area. I started with a 1 year old Belgian Shepherd called Nubi who had serious separation and generalised anxiety. However, I helped him open up by walking him weekly and introducing him to other dogs! I occasionally petsat for the owners in their own home and sometimes mine as well. I also occasionally walked and petsat a Golden Retriever called Millie who was 9 years old. I walked, fed, and had her in my home, she was sweet, however she also had slight separation anxiety from her owner, which I helped her through by allowing her to trust me over time.

I would love to become your next Petsitter because I love animals and enjoy spending time with them. I grew up with a Red Fox Labrador called Coco, and we then adopted a chocolate Lab called Rocco when I was 11. We have had up to 5 cats growing up, including one with special needs that I would look after, I would give him his medicine everyday and any extra care that he would need at certain points throughout his life. I’ve also had hamsters and fish, and even a tortoise at one point! Everyone around me, including my own family, have always had pets, I’ve always been an animal lover and carer! I even worked at a Veterinary clinic for a few months while I was at school. I did grooming, cleaning out cages, and I even assisted in surgeries!

I am prepared and I am well aware of the fact that being like a second carer for your pets comes along with responsibilities for them and it will not always be just play and fun. My calm and patient personality will help me to master more difficult situations for instance when the animals may misbehave and won’t want to listen to me.

Living with me is really easy as I am not a demanding person, and I will adapt to the new tasks and daily routine quickly and become a big help for you. If you need me to housesit, you can trust me to look after your home with same amount of care that I would have for my own home. I will make sure it is kept tidy and clean, I can run errands for you, look after your garden, etc. I do respect that the house is your house and that I have follow your house rules. If something works not quite as it should, I prefer to talk instead of ignoring things.

I have been living away from my parents for a few months now and although I miss them, I love the newfound sense of freedom, so I know I won't get homesick. I am also used to living in different countries, surrounded by different cultures as I was born in Muscat and lived in Oman for 14 years before moving to the UK. I went to an international school and met/befriended people from all over the world, developing my communication skills efficiently and effectively.
