Hi, my name is Mayamiko, but most families I've worked with call me Maya.

I'm a professional caregiver from Malawi with hands-on experience caring for both children and elderly individuals. In 2023 and 2024 I worked as a live-in caregiver for a private family in Atlanta, Georgia, where I provided full personal care for an elderly family member alongside nanny duties for the family's children. That experience, the trust the family placed in me, the routines we built together, the relationships we formed, confirmed for me that caregiving is not just a job I do well, it is work I genuinely love.

What I can offer your family:
For elderly care, I am experienced in personal care including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility assistance, always with full respect for dignity and independence. I provide companionship, medication reminders, light exercise encouragement, and clear communication with family members and any medical teams involved in your loved one's care. I understand that for many elderly individuals, consistency and familiarity are just as important as physical support so I take time to understand routines, preferences, and personalities, and I show up the same way every day.

For childcare, I have experience managing full daily routines including school preparation, homework support, nutritious meal preparation, bedtime schedules, and age-appropriate activities. I am calm, patient, and playful — I believe children thrive when they feel safe, stimulated, and genuinely cared for, not just supervised. I am also experienced in household management, cooking, and keeping a well-organised home, so families can trust that the whole household runs smoothly in their absence.

A little more about me
Before and alongside my caregiving work, I spent five years as a Front Office and Guest Services Manager at a hotel in Malawi, leading a team of 15 and caring for the comfort and wellbeing of hundreds of guests daily. That role gave me a strong foundation in remaining calm under pressure, communicating clearly and professionally, handling sensitive situations with discretion, and genuinely putting people first, all qualities I bring into every home I work in.

I am currently completing a Master's degree in Marketing, which speaks to my discipline, ambition, and ability to manage multiple responsibilities with focus and maturity. I am hardworking, trustworthy, non-smoking, and take my responsibilities seriously. I am available for live-in or live-out arrangements, flexible on hours, and fully open to relocation.
Most importantly, I am the kind of person who becomes part of the family. The Atlanta family I worked with remains in contact with me to this day and is happy to speak on my behalf. That relationship means more to me than any line on a CV.
