I am a licensed clinical officer who is passionate about helping the seniors.I am loving, compassionate, caring, attentive and kind person.During my training in college and my internship, I realized that our elderly patients not only needed medical care but also emotional support which is a key part in their recovery.I grew up with my grand mum who passed on at age 92 and got to see her go through all her elderly years.This gave me an insight on what their needs are since I saw her eye sight depreciating, memory loss, weak joints and loosing her teeth.All this made me empathetic and wanted to care for her more.Am grateful because I got to be her caregiver and the appreciation I received was unmatched level of fullness in my heart.I wanted to be there for those people who had no one to look after them due to the day to day hustle.I studied a course called clinical Medicine and surgery here in Kenya which basically entailed Reproductive health, Paediatrics, Community health, Surgery and Health system Management. I could choose to specialize in any of the above fields but despite that, I sincerely believe that my spot and passion is in caregiving.The love and appreciation that comes after treating a patient and still be there to listen and be their emotional pillar is unmatched.During my study period, I got to learn on how to manage conditions like hypertension, Diabetes,HIV/AIDs and Stroke. Although I may not have individual certificates for support I was also taught on CPR and emergency first aid during my first year in college. Deep down in my soul I sincerely wish to extend my knowledge,care and helping hand to our elderly people in need wherever they are because we all deserve someone to love, listen, clean and remind us that we matter.
It has been exactly one year and 1 month since I finished my internship and have still been tarmacking searching for a job. I don't have a rigid evidence to show that I am a senior caregiver but what I do know is that ,that is what I want to do.It is a start for me and I am already excited because I know I will give my best since I enjoy hanging out with elder people so that I can absorb some of their knowledge and get those blessings too.
I am a strong believer that everything has a start and this is the start of my journey and I promise to give it my all given an opportunity to do so. Thank you.
