Dear Host Family,
Greetings! I hope this letter finds you well. My name is Merry, and I am 27 years old. I was
born on Christmas Day in Pietermaritzburg and later moved to Johannesburg with my older brother.
Our family has since grown to six children, making me the second oldest and eldest daughter. I have
three younger brothers and a baby sister.
Growing up as the only girl for much of my life made me resilient and responsible. With both my
parents self-employed, I naturally stepped into the role of 'deputy parent,' helping with tasks like
changing nappies, feeding my siblings, putting them to sleep, and attending school meetings.
I have nearly three years of childcare experience from two daycare centers. At Princess Nests
Daycare, I worked with children aged 1 to 5, managing feeding, potty training, organizing
educational activities, and teaching manners and responsibility. At Future Leaders ECD Centre, I
worked with preschoolers aged 3 to 4, helping refine behavior, encouraging learning through play,
and creating a safe, nurturing environment. I also gained valuable experience caring for children
with ADHD and autism, which taught me patience, quick thinking, and problem-solving.
Traveling abroad has always been a dream of mine, and I am excited to immerse myself in a
NEW culture, experience daily life, and share my South African culture with your family. I
believe in the importance of building a strong foundation for children, and I hope to help raise kind,
confident, and compassionate individuals while supporting your family.
