Hello!
My name is Avery and I'm an American living in the Netherlands. I'm from Athens, OH, a small university town in the Appalachian mountains. It's town full of academics, international students, hippies and lots of nature. This has given me a flexible approach to life, a love for nature, an attraction to learning new things and critical thinking.
I come from an international background. I'm the oldest of three and my mom is an American professor while my dad is a Moroccan professor. I lived in the U.S., Morocco and the U.A.E during my childhood. Spending my formative years abroad and coming from an international family has really given me the ability to adapt to new environments rather quickly and become a very accepting and open to people of different backgrounds and viewpoints.
My hobbies include reading, hiking, volunteering and and arts and crafts. I especially enjoy making homemade greeting cards and basket making. I love animals and try to show kindness and compassion to all living things ( I'm still working on big spiders though).
I have 4 years experience nannying in the Amsterdam, so I know my way around the city and can ride a bakfiets with no issue! My Dutch is B1 level and I'm working every day to get better! I've also worked as a preschool teacher in the states and oversaw homeschooling during the pandemic, meaning I know how to think on my feet, multi-task, and can provide educational support.
Besides my experience working with children, I've also worked in several managerial positions as well as a year as an administrative assistant. I've planned parties and fundraisers. So, I'm open to taking on extra personal assistant or house managerial roles as well.
