My name is Dominique, but most people call me Dom! I’m a 28-year-old currently living in Indiana, but am looking to relocate and work with a family in need of my assistance. I have a combined 5 years of professional experience working with children. I used Great Au Pair nearly 10 years ago and found a great family that I worked as a nanny with for a year. Since then, I’ve worked in behavioral health for 4 years. When I’m not working, I love to go to the gym, travel, spend time outdoors, and search my local library for new books to read!
I have 2 years of experience working as direct care personnel on an in-patient unit for children and adolescents at a behavioral health hospital. This primarily involved running mental health groups and providing general residential care to patients during their stay.
For the last couple of years I have worked for a behavioral health nonprofit. My first year with the company, I was a School Social Service Grant Facilitator, traveling to various counties to teach social-emotional learning topics to students. After a year with the company, I was promoted to Outreach Mentor, which consists of maintaining an active caseload of at-risk youth that I work with in both school and community-based settings. My job consists of offering emotional, social, and educational support to my mentees. I may listen to a child who has had a tough weekend and needs to vent, tutor another student in grammar, and discuss how to cope with negative emotions with a group of mentees all within a day. I love working with youth and helping in any way that I can.
I have undergone multiple trainings and certifications that can benefit a family I work with. I am trained in CPR, Mental Health First Aid, Crisis Prevention Intervention, and QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer). I work with elementary through high school, so I am comfortable with and have experience working with a wide age range of children.
