We have two fantastic, curious kids (a 7-year-old girl and a 3.5-year-old boy) who love to stay busy, play outside, and do creative projects. Our daughter, in particular, thrives with an enthusiastic, relatable role model who can bring great energy to the after-school routine, whether that means diving into an art project, kicking a soccer ball in the yard, or helping her tackle homework with a positive attitude.

What the Role Looks Like
This is a steady, ~20-hour-a-week position, typically Monday through Friday from 2:00 PM to 6:30 PM (leave around 5:30pm on Fridays!).
Your main focus will be making the afternoons fun, safe, and structured:
• Transportation: Picking up the kids from school/preschool in your own reliable car and driving to local activities, parks, or playdates.
• Engagement: Keeping the kids active with screen-free play, outdoor fun, reading, and age-appropriate games.
• Light Support: Prepping quick, simple kid meals/snacks, and keeping high-traffic areas neat (loading/unloading the dishwasher, a quick sweep or vacuum of the family room, and teaching the kids to tidy up after play).
What We Are Looking For
• A positive, proactive, and dynamic personality who truly loves engaging with elementary and preschool-aged kids (prior experience as a nanny, camp counselor, tutor, or babysitter is fantastic!).
• A valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and your own safe, reliable vehicle.
• CPR/First Aid certified (or willing to get certified).
• Reliable, punctual, and a great communicator.

Key Responsibilities
Active Childcare & After-School Fun (~70% of role):
• Pickups & Transportation: Drive the kids safely home from school/preschool and off to after-school activities, sports, or local parks using your own reliable vehicle.
• Afternoon Engagement: Keep the kids engaged and screen-free with imaginative or outdoor play, crafts, activities, or reading.
• Routine & Homework Support: Guide a smooth transition from the school day, supervise our 7-year-old with homework, and provide healthy after-school snacks.
• Positive Guidance: Maintain clear, encouraging, and positive boundaries that keep the environment happy, safe, and structured.

Light Housekeeping (~30% of role):
• Simple Meal Prep: Make quick, simple kid-friendly dinners or serve what parents have provided or dinner. Prep simple afternoon snacks and school lunchboxes.
• Common Area Tidying: Keep high-traffic family spaces neat by running a quick vacuum, wiping kitchen counters, loading/unloading the dishwasher, and guiding the kids to clean up their play areas.

Schedule & Location
• Hours: ~20 hours per week (Typically 2:00 PM – 6:30 PM Monday through Thursday but 2:00PM – 5:30PM on Fridays). Optional additional ad-hoc hours weekly for evening babysitting when parents have work events.
• Location: Vienna, VA (Northern Virginia / DC Metro area).

Candidate Qualifications & Requirements
• Experience: Nannying, camp counselor, babysitting, tutoring, or early education experience is a big plus!
• Transportation: Must have your own safe, reliable car, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record.
• Certifications: Current CPR and First Aid certifications preferred.
• Personality Fit: Energetic, punctual, reliable, empathetic, and a great communicator who brings high enthusiasm and initiative to every afternoon.
• Background: Must pass a standard background check and provide strong references.
