The Ambassador role is an outbound sales position that is an extension of GreatAuPair's excellent sales and marketing process. This is a commission-based, work-from-home, independent contractor position. Ambassadors set their own hours to identify and engage prospective new host family customers and are therefore an important outward facing representation of GreatAuPair. The Ambassador is responsible for independently sourcing new leads by networking with families, schools and businesses through direct contact and social media. As an Ambassador, you will host and engage in family and child-centric events, and initiate independent marketing activities to expand your reach. A successful Ambassador will understand the customers' needs and be able to help host families quickly decide if the au pair program is a good fit. This will require you to have a thorough understanding of GreatAuPair's Au Pair Program, host family participation requirements, and Department of State compliance requirements. You will pass interested customers to GreatAuPair's professional Program Advisors who will further educate your customers about the Au Pair Program and assist them through the au pair matching process.

If you're a proven outside sales champion with excellent customer service skills who appreciates the art of building relationships by listening and relating to customers, then this role may be for you. As an Ambassador, you must be able to quickly identify sales opportunities and seek out potential customers; you are a natural with social media and you know how to engage your audience. You must be professional in your manner, articulate and authoritative in your speech. You must be independently motivated and able to relate to a diverse group of prospective customers. Your success will stem from your ability to match the benefits of the au pair program with parents' needs for childcare and their interest in cultural exchange.


The successful candidate is a confident, quick learner with superior communication skills and someone who possesses a commitment to quality customer service. You are a smart professional who is capable of helping host families understand the value and benefits of the au pair program. Your entrepreneurial spirit creates a “can-do” attitude and your ability to think outside of the box will allow you to bring forward new ideas to increase customer acquisition. You have a minimum of 4 years of similar experience, a solid knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, and Internet and social media tools.

The successful candidate will possess the following qualities, skills and experience:

  • 4-year degree or similar experience
  • 4+ years of experience in sales/marketing, recruitment, or communications
  • Self–starter with extensive networking experience
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate with customers and coworkers
  • Passion for increasing customer satisfaction and retention
  • Consistent, positive “can-do” attitude with the confidence to back it up
  • Strong preference for international or cross-cultural experience; second/third language skills a definite plus

Job Duties and Responsibilities

The Ambassador has the following duties and responsibilities

  • Proactively reach new customers via independent marketing and social media initiatives
  • Engage in family and child-centric events to network and build relationships
  • Establish and build trust with customers at every opportunity
  • Promote the value of GreatAuPair’s services to customers
  • Represent GreatAuPair as the initial point of contact for new host family customers in person, via phone and email; redirecting calls to appropriate staff as needed
  • Pre-qualify potential host family leads and refer only qualified families to Program Advisors
  • Track and report on the number of qualified opportunities created per week
  • Track and report conversion rate of leads to qualified opportunities
  • Monitor competition by gathering current marketplace information
