Dear Host Family,

Firstly, I would like to thank you for your interest in my application and now I would like to tell you some
things about me, my family, my interests and of course about my experiences in taking care of children.
This letter should give you an insight in my life and in my personality, so you can decide better if I am the
right Au-pair for your family.

My name is Larochelle, I am 22 years old and I was born on the 2nd of October 2001, in Newcastle,
South Africa. I have a younger brother who is 17 and my parents are still together. My mom is a police
officer and my dad is a project manager for a big power plant in South Africa.

I have two dogs( i love animals) named Casper and Misty. In my free time i enjoy listening to music,
exploring the area, finding and trying new restaurants and coffee shops, and working out. My friends
and family would describe me as a honest, hardworking person but also very patient and caring. I take my role as a big sister/au pair very seriously. I would consider myself very responsible and out going.
I’ve been a babysitter, nanny, preschool teacher assistant and au pair. I started by babysitting a few
cousins, my brother and family friend’s children when i was 14, all the way up until i was about 19. I
then became formally nannying for about 2 years from i was 17 to 19. After that I got to go au pair in the
United States of America for 2 years, where both the families I worked for became like my extended
family. They treated me like family and surely is very close to my heart, not just the children but their
parents as well. I learned more about “the American way of life” ; their food and culture and their
perspective of things. I got to experience a new culture which I fell in love with, but also got to
experience life in a new and different country. I am sure, my host family and I have an unforgettable
year, with a good communication and much fun. Also we can learn much about the different cultures
from each other.

I would love to become your next Au Pair because I love children and enjoy spending time with them. I
am prepared and I am well aware of the fact that being like a big sister for your children comes along
with responsibilities for them and it will not always be just play and fun. My calm and patient personality
will help me to master more difficult situations for instance when the kids are tired or don’t want to
listen to me.

I expect that in the first couple of days I will be exhausted at night because I guess taking care of
children the whole time can be tiring. But I am sure that I will adapt to the new tasks and daily routine
quickly and become a big help for you.

Living with me is really easy as I am not a demanding person. I do respect that the house is your house
and that I have follow your house rules. If something works not quite as it should, I prefer to talk instead
of ignoring things. I’m very outgoing and open minded to a lot of things.
