DEAR HOST FAMILY
My name is Kayleigh Melissa, and I am 22 years old. I was born in a town called Port Shepstone and I currently reside there. I live with my parents as well my baby sister. My mum’s name is Beverley, and she is a manager of a clothing store and my dad’s name is Sheldon and he is a manager of a hardware store. My baby sister is doing grade 11 this year and my eldest brother who is 24 has just completed his degree at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. I am currently a third-year law student studying through the University which is an open distance learning institution. I also work full time for one of the largest banks in our country called Capitec.
I would also like to pursue my masters once I have completed my four-year degree, majoring in education law. I love learning new things and I am always trying to find ways to educate and improve myself. My current educational activity is a course by Africa Legal titled “Legal Project Management”. I have also completed an Early Childhood Development Course which I have passed with 81 percent, a TEFL course, a Home Education Diploma which I have passed with distinction and basic First Aid courses.
My childcare experience would include being a teacher assistant at Harding Primary School where I taught Grade 1-3. I was responsible for teaching, marking, participating in educational activities and sports such as swimming and sports days, marking books and preparing homework for students. I was also an au pair for a single mum with 4 sons where I was responsible for waking up the kids, preparing them for school, preparing lunches dropping off and picking up and transporting to extra mural activities. The ages and names of the children were, Keshen – 11 years. Kian – 9 years, Kerwin – 6 years and Kaylin – 4 years. My most recent au pair job was for a couple with two kids which are boys, where I was also responsible for getting the kids prepared for school, ensure lunches are made, homework is done, bags are packed and transporting them to and from school. I also used to assist with house chores such as cleaning, cooking, doing laundry and looking after pets. The ages and names of the two boys were Kayden – 2 years old and Caleb – 4 months.
I also do occasional babysitting for my family members if they need an extra hand or simply exhausted in the week. I am also currently an Online English Teacher at a company called Latin Hire. I do this after working hours and it has been an amazing experience for me. I get to meet new people from different countries who speak different languages.
My mother tongue is English, but I am also fluent in Afrikaans and Zulu. I would love to au pair because I want to travel the world and meet new people, explore different cities and cultures.
One of my goals was to au pair in another country due to my childcare experience and now I am in the process. My goals for the future would firstly to become a flight attendant, travel the world and meet new people. Secondly to complete my law degree, become an attorney with my own practice and lastly open a children’s home for the less fortunate kids. I am a kind and loving person, friendly, outgoing, love to help people and very patient and empathetic. Some of my hobbies would include, playing sport such as volleyball, swimming, listening to music, cooking, and taking walks to simply adore nature.
I am looking for a host family that would entrust me with their kids and take me into their home as their own and I would love to be your au pair because I feel that I have the necessary skills needed to fulfil this role. I would be happy to get to know more about you, your family or answer any questions you may have about me or my childcare experience.
