Introduction
Hi! I’m Jade, I’m 24 years old, and I come from the Philippines. To be honest, writing this feels a bit like writing to future friends. I don’t want to sound too formal or rehearsed, so I hope you don’t mind if I speak from the heart.
Becoming an au pair is something I’ve been thinking about for a while, not just because I love being around children, but because I’ve always been curious about the world outside my own. I grew up in a big family. I’m the youngest of many siblings, and that alone shaped so much of who I am. I wasn’t just the “bunso,” I was the go to helper, the one who ran around chasing after little feet, calming cries, making milk bottles, playing silly games, and being that familiar presence for my nieces and nephews when their parents were busy or tired. It wasn’t a job. It was just life. And honestly, I loved it.
I don’t come from a fancy background. I didn’t grow up traveling or studying abroad. But what I did grow up with was a lot of love, a lot of shared meals, late night talks, noisy birthdays, and a home where you always had someone to lean on. That’s the kind of environment I hope to find and give through this experience.
You might be wondering, “Why become an au pair?”
Well, to me, it’s not just about helping out in a household. It’s about stepping into someone’s real life, being there for the little things, being present in the in betweens. I want to be part of a family where I’m not just “the help,” but someone you can talk to over breakfast, someone your kids feel safe with, and someone who respects your space, culture, and values.
I’ve always been the kind of person who listens more than I speak at first. I’m not loud or overly outgoing, but I connect deeply with people once I feel at home. I’ve learned to be independent, especially growing up watching my siblings juggle life and parenthood. I saw firsthand what it’s like to raise children, not the social media version, but the real one: the tired days, the messy rooms, the chaos, and the laughter in between. I’ve learned that patience isn’t something you have, it’s something you grow. And love isn’t always big and loud, it’s in the little things, like remembering someone’s favorite snack or sitting beside them when they’re upset, saying nothing at all.
I studied pharmacy in university, though I didn’t complete the full course. While my path changed, I gained discipline, attention to detail, and a deeper understanding of care and responsibility, things that still matter greatly to me. Even though I didn’t finish my degree, I’ve always been someone who takes learning seriously, both in and out of school.
I also love learning. Whether it’s a new recipe, a few words in a new language, or figuring out how to navigate a new city, there’s something exciting about stepping outside of what you know and allowing yourself to be changed by it. That’s one of the biggest reasons I want to become an au pair. I want to see your part of the world not as a tourist, but as someone who gets to live inside the rhythm of your everyday life.
I’m ready for the culture shock, the homesickness, the awkward first weeks. I know it won’t be perfect, and I don’t expect it to be. But I also know that life’s most beautiful parts are usually hidden in the ordinary. Maybe it’s a quiet afternoon coloring with your child. Maybe it’s sharing stories while washing dishes. Or a laugh over a language mix up. That’s the kind of connection I’m looking for.
A few things about me outside of all that: I love coffee (probably too much), I enjoy writing and journaling, and I’m always up for quiet moments more than big parties. I love animals, taking walks, and watching random documentaries. I’m not an expert cook, but I can make a mean Filipino style spaghetti and I’d be happy to share it with you sometime. I’m not perfect, but I try my best. I care deeply, and when I commit to something, I show up fully.
If you’re looking for someone who’s real, who’s not trying to impress you with a polished resume but is here with genuine intention and openness, then maybe I could be a good fit for your family.
I know it’s a big decision to welcome someone new into your home, and I want you to know I respect that deeply. I’m not just applying for a job, I’m hoping to share a season of life with you. One filled with learning, laughter, mutual respect, and kindness. Whether we’re cooking together, folding laundry, or figuring out bedtime routines, I’m here for it. I’m here to be part of something real.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. If you’ve made it this far, I’m already grateful. I hope something in these words made you feel even a little bit seen, because that’s what I want to offer: presence, sincerity, and heart.
Warmly,
Jade
