Dear host family
My name is Myriam, I am a nineteen year old girl who lives in a small town of Abruzzo, in Italy.
I am very happy to be able to write this letter, which will finally allow me to find wonderful people like you who, putting up with me for a year (don't worry, I'm not that terrible!), Will help me realize my dream: to improve my English and become a perfect American girl.
My father, Mhoa, is 60 years old and runs our mushroom and truffle company; my mother, Patrizia, is forty-nine and helps my father in the company. I have two older brothers Lorenzo and Denis. Lorenzo is twenty-two and Denis twenty-nine, both work in our company, then I have four dogs, Drago, Argo, Leaone and Orso, and a cat.
I get along quite well with my brothers. I have always wanted to have younger brothers and sisters, I can be a good big sister in America.
I attend the technical institute of chemistry in Avezzano, because I would like to become a chemist.
I am very active and in my free time I cannot stay without doing anything.
I love to do physical activity: what I like most is boxing. I have been regional champion for two years and with the national team I have won many international tournaments.
I work out five times a week and love it.
Sometimes I see to tv to basketball games with my friends and they have a lot of fun, so I can't wait to see one or a basket match in the US!
As a good Italian I love to cook: I usually cook pasta , lasagna pizza or cakes (I'm really greedy!). I can't wait to cook Italian dishes for you, to be able to bring a piece of my home, of my Italy, to your home.
Last but not least, I love to travel and discover new places and realities totally different from the ones I find myself in every day.
I think there is always something to learn from others, so after this trip I know that I will be much richer thanks to you and everyone I meet there.
Another aspect of my personality is that I become very serious and calm when I am in important situations, but then I can also be very talkative and friendly when I am with friends on informal occasions. I like to mess with others, but I'm very calm (don't worry, I'm a good girl then!).
I think I can be a good friend and a good daughter, helping you whenever you need a hand and hoping you will do the same to me.
I found on the web a sentence that completely reflects what I think about exchanges: "Exchange is not a year of our life, it is a life in a year". In fact, I know that next year I will totally change my way of life, and the best thing is that I am not afraid of it, because I am really curious to know.
I would like to feel part of your family
and you will be proud of me as your daughter, as I wish this experience was not only fantastic for me, but also for you.
