Throughout my life I’ve travelled to many different places where I gained a lot of cultural experience which contributed to an extensive development of my interpersonal and people skills. I am a highly driven and motivated individual with experience and skills in a vast array of professional environments, which is what I think makes me an excellent and interesting teacher and mentor.

Upon completing my Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics, TESOL and Spanish at the University of Limerick in Ireland in 2021, during which I spent a year abroad on Erasmus in Spain studying English philology (and learning Spanish!), I enrolled at my home university to a Master of TESOL, and soon began teaching English in local language schools.

In 2022, I spent a few weeks in Thailand, writing my Master thesis for submission. After my return home to Ireland in September and successfully submitting my Thesis which compared child to adult 1st and 2nd language learners, I decided I wanted to continue learning Portuguese, as I had already gained some language skills from my previous experience working in language schools where a majority of students spoke Portuguese, and to gain experience working with child and teenage learners. So I began working with Cambridge Schools of Portugal in October, where I gained a lot of pedagogical insight from my director of studies, senior teachers and other colleagues in terms of pedagogy of teaching younger learners (>6 years old) and teenagers. I also taught adult company students and exam groups. The experience in Portugal gave me a lot more confidence in terms of my teaching, a deeper understanding of child language and skills acquisition and helped to strengthen my methods. As a plus, I quickly learned to speak Portuguese!

I believe myself to be a fun, outgoing, and creative person, with a constant desire to learn and improve. I am always willing to take on any challenge and I can work well under pressure. I enjoy seeing myself evolve and progress in my career and I believe that my experience with you will allow me to grow personally and professionally. I can easily learn and adjust to any system in place being a fast learner, while continuing to be a hard worker, dedicated educator and positive mentor to the little ones! I strongly believe that my presence will be of great attribute to you and and to the kids.

I currently hold two degrees: Bachelor of Arts in English Linguistics, TESOL and Spanish, including a TESOL certificate issued by the university, and Master of TESOL, from the University of Limerick, Ireland. I am currently in the process of initial registration with the Teaching Council of Ireland under Route 3: further education, however I am planning to enrol in a part-time or online PGCE or PGCE or PME in the next year in order to receive a full Qualified Teacher Status next year.
