| Au Pair's Message to Families |
| Dear Host Family: My name is Dongkuan . It’s my great honor to introduce myself in this special way. I’m a very active, enthusiastic, out-going, responsible and optimistic person. No matter what to do I always try my best. My hometown is located in Northeast of China—Yanbian Jilin Province. It’s a small, but a very beautiful town. It borders both Russia and North Korea. Over 40% of the prefecture’s population is Korean, making us the largest ethnic group there. The prefecture’s capital, Yanji City, is a charming and rustic place. A number of natural attractions exist in the area. Yanbian is situated in the Changbai Mountains. There is also Tianchi Lake. The lake is in the crater of a volcano's cone in the Changbai Mountains. It is China's largest and highest Crater Lake. The lake's surface is 2,189meters above sea level and forms part of the border between China and North Korea. But the most enchanting attraction of the region is Korean culture such as wood framed homes with rice straw roofs, traditional skirts and short-waisted or jacket, traditional food Kimqi etc. All of my family members are Chinese Koreans, so am I. My father is a worker, and my mother is a housewife. Each of them has four siblings, and both of them are the oldest, and most of my cousins are younger than me. So I have the duty to take care of them when we are together. Once, one of my uncle and aunt were away to other city on business with their son living in our house. So as his elder brother I shared everything with him. I tried my best to make him feel at home and helped them with his study as well. My major in university is Clinical Medicine. I am interested in reading books about healthy food, physical practices, and nutrition. It is known to us all that disease-prevention is much more important than disease-treatment, as doctors say: health is kept not only by doctors but by you. I have many hobbies. For sports, I like football, basketball, badminton, running and climbing. But what a pity, I’m not good at them. Maybe my parents just passed me only the genes of the interests not the talent. Singing and dancing is also my favorite. I like reading too. Sometimes I do some cooking by myself. And I have got a For the chance (I mean can be a Au Pair), I think it’s a great way to practice myself and broaden my field of view, to know more about the USA and its culture. As a boy, I think there are some privileges; first of all if the host family has a son, he may play with a guy who can help him when needed. Secondly, the family may feel it more convenient to have a guy to live together. I hope that you can consider me as one of your family member. I am sure I can do it well, and sincerely hope it will benefit both of us. I am looking forward to living together with your family. Looking forward to hearing from you soon! Yours sincerely Dongkuan |
