I am writing to express my sincere interest in a position as a Caregiver and / or Home share with Elderly position. I am a 65-year-old South African woman with a compassionate, service-oriented background that includes five years living and working on an ultra-luxury cruise ship in retail management, a period of employment with the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA), and the past year dedicated to supporting my own mother as she navigates the challenges of aging. I am now seeking a meaningful home share arrangement where I can offer companionship, practical support, and peace of mind to an older adult/s in their own home.

Who I am: I am calm, trustworthy, attentive, and respectful of others’ space and routines. People who know me describe me as a good listener who treats everyone with dignity and warmth. After many years in high standard service environments, I am comfortable adapting to different personalities, maintaining tidy and welcoming surroundings, and communicating clearly and kindly.

Why I want this role: I genuinely enjoy the company of seniors and find it deeply fulfilling to help someone feel safe, supported, and less alone. Caring for my mother over the last year—assisting with daily routines, appointments, minor medications and simply being present—has shown me how much small, consistent acts of care can improve quality of life. The home share model appeals to me because it allows me to build a genuine relationship while providing practical help such as light housekeeping, meal preparation, companionship, driving and assistance with everyday tasks.

Why a host should choose me: I understand that an older adult’s home is their sanctuary. Living in shared crew accommodation for five years on a cruise ship taught me to maintain high standards of cleanliness, respect house rules precisely, and be mindful of others’ privacy and rest.
