Caring and empathetic and flexible caregiver wanted.
We are Gül and Wim, and we are looking for a caring, patient, empathetic and flexible caregiver pair who would like to live with us and support us with personal care, individual guidance, and light household tasks.
About us:
My partner is a retired English teacher.
I am currently still working as teacher and will retire next year.
We have extensive experience with au pairs. When our children were young, they were cared for by au pairs from different countries, including Poland, the Czech Republic, Romania, and Bulgaria.
Care situation:
My partner has a medical history of approximately 15 years. He had pancreatic cancer and has recovered; there is no tumor anymore. As a result, he developed diabetes.
In June 2025, he suffered a stroke and was diagnosed with vascular dementia. He can still walk and talk, but he walks slowly and needs calmness, structure, and a familiar face in his daily life.
What we are looking for?
We are looking for an empathetic caregiver who is willing to stay with us for at least one year and provide consistent and caring support.
At the moment,we have an caregiver arranged through an agency. However, the care giver changes every month. Since my husband now has dementia, this is very confusing for him, and structure and continuity are extremely important for his well-being.Therefore, I have decided to find an au pair myself who is willing to stay with us for a longer period, preferably at least six months.
Tasks (among others)
Personal care:
Giving medication
Helping with dressing and undressing
Assisting with bathing/showering and personal hygiene
Monitoring his well-being and safety.
Individual guidance:
Accompanying him to appointments
Providing daily structure
Going for walks or doing light activities together
Offering companionship and emotional support
Light household tasks:
Cooking meals
Shopping
Laundry and ironing
Light cleaning and tidying
Living situation:
We live close to Rotterdam, in a safe and green area. You will have your own private room in our home.
Experience with dementia care is a big plus.
