Introduction
After 20 years in the aviation insurance and insurance software industry, I decided to follow my passion in Palliative, Hospice and end of life care and nursing.
I completed my studies through the Hospice Association of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg where I earned 90% in my theory and 99% in my practical exam.
My qualification encompasses palliative nursing care, end of life nursing care, therapeutic nursing care and rehabilitative nursing care, either in a clinical or home based setting.
I work well with others in a multi-disciplinary team under the guidance and supervision of a registered nurse.
Within the college setting I was the 2021 student leader and representative, and I aided the college tutor in presenting classes to other student groups.
Part of my qualification included 450 clinical hours which I completed in the Hospice Wits in patient unit.
Hospice Wits is a hospice care center with a fully equipped In Patient Unit for respite care, end of life care and palliative care and has a college attached. In addition to in patient unit in Houghton, Johannesburg, there is also the Hospice Soweto Outreach, which services the greater Soweto community through a home based care program.
I currently work as a nursing assistant at Hospice Wits as well as facilitating one of their most popular courses in ancillary healthcare for caregivers.
