I've never been enrolled in any nursery school nor have educational qualifications for caregiving. My abiliy to care for elderly people is through experience. My mom always wanted me to become a nurse, I've never wanted it because it's a job. My nursery skills comes naturally. Unfortunately my dad started being ill in 2017. I didn't want anybody else but myself to care for him, because I knew I'm not taking it as work but giving what I'm effortlessly given to give. Taking care of another human being.
Besides my father, I've had other opportunities in taking care of elderly people. My mother's friend was renovating her house, because of dust and construction work to be done, she couldn't let her mother stay in those conditions. So my mother knew I'd love and able to keep her in my care. We spent months together and prolonged her stay just abit after they had finished with renovating. She was 83 yet we feed off each other's way of living, you sure couldn't tell we were years apart from our conversations. I was 18 then.
Not selling myself as something I'm not or trying to be, I've pretty much accepted my natural chosen field. Even in 2014-2016 I had the chance to look after my late uncle. Every family member saw it obvious that I should be the one availing myself to such duty. Others take it as a pause in life, while I take it as a calling. I don't get lost when I'm doing what gives me joy in my heart.
We all know that it not always easy as we hope, there are days where emotions play a roll. Like having bad days, now understanding such circumstances helps you to not take out your bad day on the person you should be taking care of. Also understanding that elderly people might become grumpy at times, not because they just want to be rude. Not having your youth abilities does that to a person, they are simply frustrated by not being able to do things for themselves.
