My journey into care started in 2021 when I had to assist a family member to several hospital and laboratory visits to determine illness and the recovery period that followed. I was tasked to support the home nurses and took a course on Elderly care and caring for the disabled to equip me with the knowledge and skills necessary to be his carer.
I did diaper changes, assisted with feeding, personal grooming, medication administration and provided emotional support throughout this period.
Overtime, I have sought to add to my qualifications and have earned a Level 2&3 in Health and Social care and the Care certificate-15 standards of care to boost my knowledge and confidence in the job and display my commitment to health care.
This position particularly interests me because of my passion for providing support to vulnerable individuals and people in need of care ensuring their comfort and wellbeing. I see the role as the perfect position for me to make the most of my passion and enthusiasm, and also build the foundations for successful career in the care industry.
