Loving and eclectic family looking for an addition to our clan that can serve as a nanny/tutor for our two children aged 7 ( Iris ) and 9 (Wilder) that is willing to go with the flow. Ability to travel internationally is a must, and must be adaptable such that services may be provided independently, with either, or with both parents present. Examples of this could be traveling from California where mom is spending time with and escorting the kids to hang out with dad in Mexico. Kids would be traveling alone with nanny/tutor but not expected to spend long periods of time with out a parental guardian present. Attitude is everything in this role and flexibility and adaptability to change with little warning is a necessary survival trait. Going from a semi-organized routine to a call to pack your bags because your headed to Istanbul for a indefinite period of time is not out of the question.

Our family really values the outdoors and the ocean in particular. We are all surfers and like to spend most of our time in close proximity to water. Frozen water is not frowned upon during the winter months with family ski trips often highlights. Given that nature has been such a big part of our children’s lives they like and we support a lot of outdoor time. Most forms of outdoor activities are not frowned upon except inline skating which is lame and should be avoided at all costs. Our children’s educational experience thus far has consisted of a combination of nature based home school to avoid the covid fear based mask indoctrination, and Waldorf. Most of the kids lives have been lived on a ranch 1/2 hour North of Gaviota with more animals than people but despite that the kids are surprising sociable.
If that’s not enough, perhaps the most dynamic element of this job is related to the relationship of Wilder and Iris’s parents Nick and Wilder and Iris’s mom. They have recently split up (almost a year) and are trying to navigate how to co-parent successfully and work on their relationship dynamics at the same time, all without the kids yet knowing concretely that their parents have split. Complicated to say the least and we need someone who is positive and flexible.

Experience, education, references, and all the normals check the box stuff is important but attitude and personality is what is going to get you this job. We need someone that doesn’t have a lot of other stuff going on in their lives and is ready for an adventure. Someone willing to dive into the whirlwind that is life with the Behunin’s and be stoked to be on the journey.

We respect most religious beliefs but expect you to respect our boundaries and don’t try to push what works for you on us unless invited to by and adult. Not a huge fan on bible beaters. We are spiritual and into meditation, yoga, and belief in a hire power.

The following are points of agreement regarding the expectations and qualifications for a nanny/tutor:
The ideal candidate will:
1. Be able to travel with and care for the children internationally.
2. Be able to stay in the United States for whatever period of time is appropriate for family needs.
3. Be adaptable such that services may be provided independently, with either, or with both parents domestically and abroad.
4. Be a native Spanish speaker who is also fluent in English; both spoken and written.
a. The children will speak Spanish with the nanny throughout the day for household
and casual conversation for an immersive Spanish experience.
b. Academics will be taught in English.
c. The goal is for the children to be fully fluent and comfortable in Spanish while still
advancing their education in English to meet or exceed grade level expectations
within the United States.
5. Have experience in education with children approximately 7 and 9 years old.
a. Ideally in a similar style or with specific exposure to the Waldorf education model.
6. Foster a love of learning and curiosity; supplementing base curriculum with additional
intensives prompted by the children’s interests and aptitudes.
7. Provide a rich, well-rounded educational experience including academics, the arts, and exposure to various cultures without using a traditional heavy-handed or judgmental
approach.
a. The history, art, culture, language, etc. of the places the children are experiencing
should be built into their educational experience.
8. Be capable of coordinating and facilitating if not directly engaging in the continued pursuit and love of various outdoor activities for the children. These activities currently include, but are not limited to surfing, swimming, skiing, snowboarding, gymnastics, soccer,horseback riding, and yoga.
a. Both children are especially self-motivated related to yoga and meditation. So, a candidate with yoga and/or mediation experience would be particularly suitable.
