Hello!
My name is Aasha and I live on the Upper West Side. I am a graduate student at Columbia University studying creative writing (nonfiction) and literary translation (specializing in Twi, French, Spanish) in search of a host family. I live in NYC so I won’t require sponsorship but I can live in if needed. I only have classes on Mondays and Tuesdays. My Tuesdays start at 10am by Mondays start at 1pm.
I was previously a full time baby nurse and nanny to the toddler 12 hours a day. I also cook (and enjoy doing it!) and clean. I have an Honors BFA in Literature and I can commit long term or on temporary basis. I have a child led learning- Montessori approach and I encourage pretend play. I'm a lover of languages, music, the arts, and creativity! I'm a warm and gentle person but definitely firm when need be, when it comes to discipline I like to maintain what the parents have already started. I personally follow gentle and respectful parenting techniques of discipline and communication. I also cook and clean for the entire family. I can speak some Mandarin, German and I'm still learning French. I was also an au pair in Bordeaux). I believe I'm the perfect fit because I'm proactive, well trained and very gentle. I have the professionalism to keep up with a busy household (and keep everything clean!) and the tenderness to help raise gentle, kind and curious children. I have eleven years of experience as a nanny with children ages 0-14 years. I also have experience working with children between the ages 18 months-2 when I was working in a Montessori school in Koln Germany. I mostly have experience with multiples (2+).
