Dear Family,
My name is Romane, I am French, and I have spent most of my professional life working with children. What I can offer a family goes beyond traditional childcare: I am both an experienced caregiver and a qualified primary school teacher, with a strong background in education, creativity and child development.
I started working with children through babysitting and holiday camps, caring for children of many different ages, including 3–6 and 6–12 year-olds. I then worked as a nanny in Paris between 2013 and 2015, before spending a full year as an au pair in Australia in 2016. These experiences taught me how to become part of a family's everyday life, adapt to different routines and personalities, and create a relationship with children based on trust, affection and clear boundaries.
I later became a primary school teacher and have now taught for more than three years. I particularly enjoy working individually with children, understanding how they learn and helping them become confident and independent. I am trained in the Nuyts approach for French literacy, Singapore Maths and Pierre Faure pedagogy, and I have also received training related to ADHD and learning difficulties.
Creativity is also a big part of who I am. I have taught drama to children for more than ten years. I love creating activities, telling stories, playing, going on outings, using music and theatre, and turning ordinary moments into opportunities for children to discover something new. I am very comfortable helping with homework and academic development, but I don't believe childhood should feel like school all day!
I can care for children of different ages and take responsibility for their daily routine: getting ready, meals, activities, homework, playtime, outings, bedtime and organisation. I am energetic and affectionate, but I also know how to set a clear and reassuring framework. I want children to feel happy and safe with me while understanding that there are rules and boundaries.
What makes my profile a little different is this combination of real childcare experience, professional teaching skills and a strong creative background. I don't simply supervise children: I enjoy getting to know who they are, what interests them, what they find difficult and what helps them grow.
