My name is Victoria and I was born in Whitehaven, which is part of the beautiful Lake District in England.
I am a graduate of Northumbria University where I studied Early Years Education for 3 years. I remained teaching in the UK both on supply and in a Pre-School for 2 years but was fed up of the rain and grey sky and clouds so decided I was ready for an adventure; somewhere sunny and that easy accessible for travel so Dubai it was! I applied for a teaching job, was successful and moved out 3 weeks later. What was meant to be 2 years has turned into 8 (much to my families despair!)
I take pleasure in being at the forefront of each child’s learning journey, providing them with ‘hands on’, experienced based learning in all areas of the curriculum. This philosophy has fuelled me to observe each child’s individual characteristics, identifying how they learn best, what motivates and captures their imagination and then ensuring to every child’s needs are catered for within the activities I plan.
I recognise that every child is unique, boasts a natural curiosity and has an individual preferred way of learning where they draw upon their memories, experiences and skills. I believe in a personalised planning for individuals and recognise that strengths and skills are not always academic and in line with the teaching philosophy, I dedicate time to identify every individuals strength and passion and embed this into my lesson planning to ensure that the children get the very best, personalised learning experiences that develop the ‘whole student’.
I have a sound knowledge of planning, teaching, assessment and behavioural strategies, and can carry out the wider roles and responsibilities an educator has within their role, such as the safeguarding and well-being of the children, instilling manners, promoting a love of learning by facilitating every child’s physical, intellectual, emotional and social development.
Having lived and taught in the UAE for the past 8 years I have had the privilege and experience of working with children of various ages and cultural backgrounds. Moreover, my natural ability to establish strong rapport with children and maintain professionalism has earned me praise from both employers and families I have worked with in the past. I approach each day with enthusiasm, patience, and a genuine love for helping children reach their full potential. My solid educational background and hands-on experience have equipped me with the skills necessary to create a stimulating and supportive learning environment tailored to meet the unique needs of each child.
I like reading, trending topics, sport, rescuing animals-specifically dogs! Travelling and learning about new cultures and tasting their food!
I am quite sporty and I love both watching and playing football, netball and cricket. I am a confident swimmer and take full advantage of the weather and my community pool on a daily basis.
