My name is Jelica but you can call me Lyka, I’m 22 years old and I’m from the Philippines. I recently graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism Management, and I’m so excited to begin my au pair journey.

I’m currently looking for a warm, kind, and respectful family that I can become a part of, not just as your au pair, but as someone your children can trust, laugh with, and create wonderful memories with.

A little about me

I come from a big, loving Filipino family, so I’ve always been surrounded by children. Looking after them has never felt like a responsibility—it has always been something I genuinely enjoy.

I’m cheerful, outgoing, patient, responsible, and easy to talk to. I speak English confidently, and I enjoy meeting new people and learning about different cultures.

I love making children smile and being part of their little adventures. One of my favorite things is spending quality time with them through singing, dancing, playing games, reading stories, drawing, arts and crafts, and outdoor play. I also love playing dress-up with little girls, and I enjoy helping children learn through fun activities such as teaching basic colors, matching games, drawing, reading, counting, and other simple educational activities. I believe children learn best when they’re having fun.

I also have a big love for nature and adventure. I enjoy camping, hiking, road trips, swimming, beach days, and almost anything outdoors. Growing up on a beautiful island in the Philippines taught me to appreciate nature from a young age. I love travelling, discovering new places, and creating new experiences.

My Childcare Experience

I’ve helped care for my four young cousins, who are now 7, 6, 6, and 5 years old. I’ve watched them grow over the years and have always loved spending time with them—playing, preparing meals and snacks, helping with their daily routines, keeping them entertained, and making sure they’re always safe and happy.

I have also been one of the main caregivers for my 2-year-old niece since the day she was born. My brother and sister-in-law became parents when they were both only 18 years old, so I happily stepped in to help. I’ve experienced everything from changing diapers, feeding, bathing, dressing her, comforting her, putting her to sleep, teaching her new words, reading books, singing songs, dancing together, playing dress-up, and watching her grow into the happy little girl she is today.

I also had the opportunity to care for two Norwegian children—a little girl and a little boy. It was such a wonderful experience getting to know another culture while creating a fun, caring, and safe environment for them. We spent time playing together, doing activities, and enjoying each other’s company while I made sure they felt comfortable and cared for.

Children naturally bring out the playful side of me, and nothing makes me happier than seeing them laugh, learn something new, and grow with confidence.

For me, becoming an au pair is so much more than travelling abroad.

It’s about becoming part of a family, learning Australian culture, sharing my Filipino culture, and building meaningful relationships that last beyond my stay. I hope to create a home where your children feel safe, supported, encouraged, and most importantly, happy.

I would love to become someone your children are excited to spend time with—whether we’re reading stories, singing songs, dancing around the living room, exploring a park, or simply sharing lots of laughs together.
