Introduction
My Name is Bjarne, I am a Geology Student from Germany. I speak English and German at a high level and I'd like to e perience other parts of the world, most notably, countries that are different from my home country like for example China.
I've been involved in teaching and taking care of kids 6-18 years of age during my voluntary work as a guardian with "Tierschutzjugend NRW" (animal welfare north-rhine westphalia) for about 6 years (2016 to about 2022), where we spend from 3 days up to a week in a certain location and learn about animals and nature, mostly on holidays and weekends, it's like summer camp except we're renting a house. It involves teaching as well as taking care of the kids there, making sure they brush their teeth, dress properly on colder days, take medicine if needed, breaking up arguments and fights, bringing them into other institutions like Zoos and Animal Shelters to learn something there together, or teaching how to cook tasty vegetarian food, it was a lot of fun.
Nowadays a lot less kids seem to be interested in that and so I moved on to being a paid freelance tutor for the subjects my Highschool education and university studies qualify me for: math, English, chemistry, physics, biology, and IT as well as my native language German. Mostly it's one, sometimes two students at once, bigger groups are offered by actual teaching institutions but the pay would be worse so I didn't try those and just do my own thing for now, though I have no doubt I could handle groups of 3-5 students, especially if it would be in a family like it would be the case in a bigger host family.
I really like teaching and taking care of kids, it's heartwarming to see the progress both at school and at home.
I would like to do that in a different country in a family setting, which is why I've signed up for this program. I'm looking forward to seeing how people live in another country and would like to be a part of it for a while. I've been working as an AuPair in Poland (6yo twins m and f), Austria, and Italy (M8, F10, M13), mostly teaching German and accompanying the kids with their daily tasks and activities, but I could also teach English and assist older kids with other homework or tasks too.
China Exclusive: I've seen mainstream media reports as well as Youtubers show and describe life in China and its different provinces, as well as done my own research. I'd like to see the cities and surrounding nature for myself, mostly the capital of Beijing, Chengdu and surroundings, Chongqing, Shenzhen, Jinan, Xian, ... As for the food, I think I am already sold from all my Restaurant Visits here, but I would like to taste it there as well. I am really liking the high-tech and future proof implementations into everyday life and I would like to see it for myself.
