Introduction

Dear Family,

Hello, and thank you so much for taking the time to read my letter.

My name is Maria Jose, and I am very excited about the possibility of becoming your au pair and, hopefully, becoming part of your family during this very special chapter of my life.

I have always believed that some of the most beautiful experiences in life begin when we have the courage to step outside our comfort zone and follow the dreams that live in our hearts. For me, coming to Australia is much more than simply travelling to another country. It is a dream that I truly want to pursue, an opportunity to grow, become more independent, discover a new culture and challenge myself to become the person I know I can be.

One of the reasons I feel especially drawn to being an au pair is my love for children. I genuinely enjoy their way of seeing the world — their curiosity, imagination, honesty and ability to find happiness in the smallest things. I believe that caring for children is not only about making sure they are safe and looked after, but also about creating an environment where they feel loved, listened to, respected and confident to be themselves.

I would love to be someone your children can trust and feel comfortable with. I want to share the everyday moments with them: playing, laughing, helping with homework, preparing meals, going outside, discovering new things, listening to their stories and being there for them when they need someone. I know that childcare also requires patience, responsibility, consistency and understanding, and I would take that responsibility very seriously.

At the same time, I hope to become more than simply someone who helps with childcare. I would love to become a positive presence in your home and someone your family can genuinely rely on. I want to learn about your traditions, your lifestyle and your way of doing things, while also sharing a little bit of my own culture, my experiences and the person I am.

I also want to be honest about an important part of my dream. I would be happy to spend the time necessary in your home, especially at the beginning, so that I can truly become part of your family's routine and be there for your children when they need me. I understand that becoming an au pair means adapting to your family's lifestyle, respecting your home and being present and committed.

At the same time, one of my personal goals during this journey is to gradually build a little home of my own in Australia. I see having my own space as an important part of becoming more independent and growing as a person. I hope to find the right balance: to be genuinely involved in your family's life, to care for your children with love and responsibility, and at the same time to have the opportunity to create my own space and experience life independently.

lFor me, being an au pair is not simply about having a place to stay or finding a way to travel. It is about creating a meaningful connection with a family, becoming someone your children can trust, learning from one another and sharing a part of our lives. I hope that, even if my journey eventually takes me into my own home, the relationship we build can remain something meaningful and special.

I know that moving to another country can be challenging. There will be new routines, new customs, new people and moments when everything feels unfamiliar. But I am ready for that. I want to embrace this experience with an open mind, humility, patience and a willingness to learn.

I am choosing to pursue this dream because I believe life is too short to constantly wonder “what if?” Sometimes we have to be brave enough to leave behind what is familiar, take a leap of faith and give ourselves the opportunity to discover who we can become.

I hope Australia will not only be a place where I live for a while, but a place where I create beautiful memories, meet wonderful people, grow as a person and take important steps toward the future I dream of building for myself.

And if I am lucky enough to become part of your family, I hope I can give your children the same care, patience, kindness and affection that I would want for someone looking after the people I love most. I hope I can bring positive energy into your home, make your days a little easier and, most importantly, make your children feel safe, valued and loved.

I would be very grateful for the opportunity to get to know you, hear about your family, understand your expectations and learn what life is like for you. I hope we can build our relationship on trust, honest communication, mutual respect and kindness.

Thank you for considering me and for taking the time to read a little piece of my heart and my dream.

I hope to meet you soon and, hopefully, begin this beautiful adventure together.

Warmly,
Maria Jose
