My mother has been working abroad as an OFW for more than 15 years, and because of her absence, I learned to step up and become someone my family could depend on.
One of the most meaningful experiences in my life has been caring for my two nephews, who are 5 and 3 years old. Since their mother is away, I have become actively involved in their everyday lives. I help look after them, keep them safe, play with them, assist with their routines, teach them simple things, and guide them as they learn and grow. Being with them has taught me that caring for children requires patience, understanding, consistency, and genuine love. I also became a responsible older sister to my two younger sisters, which strengthened my maturity, leadership, and independence.
These experiences are the reason I want to become an Au Pair or Live-in Tutor. I want to use what I have learned from caring for my own family to positively influence another child's life. I want to be someone who not only takes care of children but also helps them learn, discover their interests, build confidence, and feel safe and valued. I am willing to help with their studies, daily routines, activities, and other responsibilities while respecting the values and rules of my host family.
