Introduction
I hope you and your family are doing well. Thank you for reading my letter. I know choosing an au pair is an important decision, so I would love to share a little about myself.
My name is Daryl, but my family and close friends call me Dar or Dada. I am 24 years old and from Bohol, Philippines. I am caring, patient, understanding, and enjoy building connections. In my free time, I enjoy reading, exploring new places, playing volleyball, taking photos, and spending time outdoors. I also enjoy caring for our two dogs and helping with household chores.
I grew up in a simple family where love was shown through sacrifice and caring for one another. My mother worked abroad as a domestic helper, so my grandparents became our second parents. As they grew older, my older sister and I helped care for our younger brothers and with household responsibilities. These experiences taught me responsibility, patience, and dependability.
One of the greatest blessings in my life was becoming part of Compassion Philippines. I was sponsored from age three until college. Through the program, I grew in my faith and met teachers and volunteers who became role models to me. Their kindness inspired me to pursue a Bachelor of Secondary Education so I could make a positive difference in children's lives.
Children have always held a special place in my heart. Since I was 15, I have enjoyed caring for children whenever my family or community needed help. I have babysat my godmother's young sons and cared for my younger cousins. I helped with schoolwork, prepared meals, played with them, and made sure they felt safe and cared for. Being around children genuinely brings me joy, and I love watching them learn and grow.
During my student teaching internship, I learned that working with children is not only about teaching lessons. It is also about listening, understanding their personalities, encouraging them, and helping them gain confidence. Through Compassion Philippines, I also assisted in teaching children and served as a camp counselor, strengthening my patience, leadership, and caregiving skills.
Another important experience was caring for my grandmother after her stroke in 2021. She had raised us while my mother worked abroad, so she was like a mother to me. When she became bedridden, my siblings, cousins, and I cared for her for almost a year. It taught me compassion, patience, and the importance of being present for someone who depends on you. She passed away in 2022, but her lessons guide me.
I currently work as a Customer Service Representative in the BPO industry. This has strengthened my communication, patience, problem-solving, and ability to work with people from different backgrounds. I want to pursue something more meaningful to me, and I believe becoming an au pair will allow me to grow, care for children, step outside my comfort zone, and experience life in another part of the world.
When I discovered the au pair program, I felt it matched what I value most: children, family, cultural exchange, learning, and meaningful relationships. I have always dreamed of exploring another part of the world, and I believe the most meaningful part will be the people I meet.
I would love to learn about your Danish culture and way of life while sharing my Filipino culture, faith, and family values. To me, cultural exchange is about understanding one another, building trust, and creating genuine connections.
If you choose me as your au pair, I will be someone your family can count on. I will care for your children with patience, kindness, and genuine love while respecting your home, values, routines, and parenting style. I hope to become someone your children feel safe with and someone you can trust.
Thank you for reading my letter and getting to know me. I hope it has given you a glimpse of my heart. I hope to meet your family, learn from you, and become a positive part of your lives.
Take care!
Best regards,
Daryl
