Introduction
I'm originally from Kerala, India, and I've been living in Barcelona for a while now, where I have full legal authorization to work. I'm a fluent English speaker, and I'm also learning Spanish, currently at an A2/intermediate level, so I can communicate comfortably in both languages with your children and support their bilingual environment.
My connection to childcare goes back years before I ever thought of it as "work." Growing up, I spent a huge amount of time looking after my younger cousins back home — picking them up, helping them with homework every evening, keeping them fed and on schedule, and coming up with games and drawing activities to keep them entertained on long afternoons. It's where I first learned that the best way to hold a child's attention isn't by being strict, it's by being genuinely interested in what they're doing and making even boring tasks (yes, homework included) feel like something worth doing well.
By training, I'm a licensed pharmacist, and while that might seem unrelated to babysitting at first glance, it's actually shaped how I approach caring for children. Years of working in clinical and retail pharmacy settings taught me to stay calm under pressure, pay close attention to safety and detail, and communicate clearly and patiently — whether I was explaining something to a worried parent or reassuring a nervous patient. Those same instincts show up in how I care for kids: I'm attentive, I don't cut corners on safety, and I stay calm even when things get chaotic (which, with children, they always eventually do).
I also love art and drawing, and I bring that into how I engage with kids. Rather than just supervising, I like to actively participate — sketching together, inventing little stories, turning tidy-up time into a game. I've found that children open up and cooperate far more easily when they feel like you're spending time with them, not just watching over them.
When it comes to homework specifically, I take it seriously without making it feel like a chore. I sit with the child, break tasks into manageable steps, and give them the space to work through problems themselves before jumping in to help — I think that builds real confidence, not just completed worksheets.
A few things I can promise as a caregiver for your family:
I will always put your child's safety and comfort first, no exceptions.
I'm reliable and punctual — if I commit to a time, I'll be there.
I communicate openly with parents about how the day went, any concerns, and anything your child achieved that day.
I adapt to your family's routines and house rules rather than imposing my own.
I'm patient by nature, but also structured — homework gets done, but so does playtime.
I understand that inviting someone into your home to care for your children is a big decision, and trust has to be earned, not assumed. I'm happy to meet in person beforehand, answer any questions you have, and provide references so you can feel completely confident before we begin.
I have a flexible schedule and I'm happy to discuss hours and days directly with you to find something that works well for your family. Looking forward to hearing from you, and to hopefully getting to know your children soon!
Warmly,
Anju
