Dear Future Host Family,

My name is Munashe Ashley, and I am a 23-year-old young man from Mutare, Zimbabwe. I am writing to express my sincere interest in becoming your Au-Pair. I hope this letter gives you a glimpse of who I am and why I would be honoured to become a part of your family.

I grew up in a loving and supportive family with two older brothers. My father is a retired soldier, and my mother is a retired teacher. They raised me to be respectful, responsible, hardworking, and kind. These values have shaped the person I am today and are the principles I carry with me in everything I do.

I completed my Ordinary Level studies in 2020, where I passed eight subjects, and later completed my Advanced Level studies in 2022. In 2023, I earned my German A1 language certificate because I have always dreamed of experiencing German culture and improving my language skills while living with a welcoming family. I speak fluent English and Shona and have a basic knowledge of German, which I am eager to improve every day.

Although I do not have formal qualifications in childcare, I have gained valuable experience by caring for my niece and nephew from the age of four. Spending time with them taught me how important patience, responsibility, creativity, and understanding are when looking after children. I have also volunteered at a local kindergarten, where I assisted teachers with educational activities, supervised playtime, and helped create a safe and enjoyable environment for the children. These experiences confirmed my love for working with children and showed me how rewarding it is to contribute to their growth and happiness.

I understand that every family is unique, and every child has different needs. I am ready to learn your family's routines, respect your parenting style, and provide the support you need. Whether it is helping with school preparations, playing games, reading bedtime stories, assisting with homework, or helping with light household duties, I will always do my best with care and enthusiasm.

In my free time, I enjoy playing football because it keeps me active and teaches teamwork. I also enjoy listening to music, reading books, and baking, which is one of my favourite hobbies. I would be delighted to bake treats with your children or introduce them to some traditional Zimbabwean recipes. I also look forward to learning about German cooking, traditions, and everyday family life.

People who know me describe me as calm, patient, honest, and dependable. I communicate openly and respectfully, and I enjoy building positive relationships with people of all ages. I believe children thrive in an environment where they feel safe, encouraged, and listened to, and I will always strive to provide that for them.

For me, becoming an Au-Pair is about much more than travelling abroad. It is a wonderful opportunity to become part of a family, experience a new culture, improve my German, and create lasting friendships and unforgettable memories. At the same time, I hope to share my own culture, language, and traditions with your family and contribute positively to your daily life.
