I completed six months of Nursing Assistant training, where I gained practical knowledge of personal care, hygiene support, safe patient handling, infection prevention, mobility assistance, and the importance of treating every individual with respect and compassion. This training strengthened my caregiving skills and reinforced my commitment to providing attentive and person centred care.
In addition to my training, I have personal caregiving experience looking after my grandparents, who were between 60 and 75 years old and living with diabetes. Supporting them taught me the importance of patience, empathy, and consistency. I helped them with their daily routines, encouraged healthy habits, prepared meals according to their dietary needs, reminded them about their medication schedule, accompanied them to appointments when needed, and provided companionship to ensure they never felt alone. Through this experience, I learned how important emotional support is alongside physical care.
