Introduction

Dear Host Family!
My name is Wojtek. I eagerly want to become your manny because I would like to take a step further in my career.
First and foremost, I believe you need another person in your family - I will be a good candidate, an older brother to your children with whom they won't be bored. As for my personality traits, I am very responsible, reliable, open, friendly, well-mannered, honest and active. I'm the person who's always smiling and cheering up others. When I meet some new kids, they swiftly take to me.
MY PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE & ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
- I'm a Teaching Assistant in UK for Year 4 pupils
- I've been an au pair before in the USA for a year (2013-2014) and in the UK since September 2016
- I've done my work experience as an English teacher at primary schools (150 hours)
- I've been a volunteer in the orphanage since 2013 and participated in two summer camps where I took a 24-hour care of a group of children between the ages of 3 and 12 (each camp lasted 17 days)
- On my returning to Poland from the USA I've worked in a corporation for over a year (since October 2014); my position: credit and collection analyst - work in an English environment for UK (Finance branch)
- I've been an English tutor for over 5 years - taught English to children and adults
- I possess a Bachelor's degree in English Philology (Teaching specialisation)
- I speak and write English fluently and learn German in the meantime
- I play the piano, the guitar and can sing a little :)
- I'm a safe driver experienced in driving cars that have manual and automatic transmission; I hold two valid driver's licences - Polish and American
- I have the first aid certificate and willing to deliver the background check
- I can swim, ride a bike, enjoy long walks, hiking and going to the gym
- I work as a Polish Teacher for Year 4 in New Malden on Saturdays
As far as my experience is concerned, I took care of a lot of kids. There was a time I had to spend either the whole week or single days with my aunt's children. They were about 14 and 12. My task was to drive them to school or other places, make them dinner and spend time to the night. We used to play football a lot, cards, monopoly and sometimes computer games. In the evenings, we often were talking to each other about everything, starting from telling jokes and ending in interesting tales :D.
I've been an au pair in the USA for a year. I worked with 2 different families in 2 different cities. My first family was from NYC. It was a single mother with the only child (9yo). The second family was from Boston. There was a single father with a 10yo boy who was autistic. It all worked very well for both of us and I enjoyed the time of being there.
I often go with my singing group in the Catholic church and acolytes on some excursions organized by our local priest. I've been a member of this group for about 5 years and we have visited many new interesting places and spent plenty of time together. When the weather is fair, we usually go hiking in the mountains. This group is between the ages of 6-17 years. I'm of course the oldest one who also takes care of them. A year ago we were on holidays at the seaside for a week. We were often singing, playing beach volleyball, swimming in the sea, barbecuing or going for a walk. Personally, I prefer spending time outdoors as it was during this trip.
What is more, I've been a volunteer in the orphanage since October 2012. There are some deprived children whom lack love. I visit them once or twice every week. There are kids between the ages of 4-11 years old. Our task as volunteers is to help them with their homework, spend time with them, play some games or just talk about their problems in their life. They call us 'uncles' and 'aunts'. I love going there because they are always happy when you come there and they never want you to leave them :)
There are, of course, cases, when a child doesn't want to listen to you or behaves in a badly manner. I don't shout - I always talk to them about the case or warn them not to behave like that, otherwise they will be disciplined. I would never hit or spank a kid. We would have to come to an agreement and put the past behind. I think that sometimes keeping discipline may be the most difficult thing but it may be solved. Children have taught me patience and seeing the world from their perspective. They've also taught me the joy of life and how to enjoy even the simplest things in life. I've learnt from them how to be a good team leader and at the same time how to be a good team player who respects everyone in the group.
As for my studies, I studied at the English Department. The course includes pedagogics and prepares to become an English teacher. In my free time I play the guitar and keyboards, do crosswords, surf the Internet, read books, play some games and meet friends. I love visiting new places and discovering new things.
