Dear Family,

I am a twenty eight year-old French and English speaking nanny/au pair who graduated with a degree in English Literature from the University of Virginia. I worked as a live-in nanny for a family in the Rhone Alps/Geneva area beginning in June 2006. I connected with this family through Great Au Pair and have been very happy with the result! I am currently looking for a full time live in position. I have an excellent driving record and a valid license.

For one year I lived with a family that had a three year old daughter. Her parents were both career oriented and I was often with her late into the evening before they returned home. She and I became very close. My daily schedule during the week included helping Sofia eat breakfast, dress, tidy her room and get to school on time. After school we either returned home to play and have the occasional nap or go to after school activities like dance or horseback riding. I provided her with a lunch at school and a snack afterwards. Often I gave her dinner and a bath and read to her at night before bed (one of my favorite things to do). I traveled extensively with the family and am very comfortable traveling with children under the age of three. I also dedicated a lot of time to enforcing a productive and permenant schedule, teaching good behavior and interacting with Sofia's social and intellectual development. I took care of many household chores.

I worked some Saturdays and tried to be very flexible with my time, as it was difficult for us to have a set family schedule.

The family that I lived with in France was American and English speaking; however, I have spoken a good amount of French with small children, as the child I cared for attended a bi-lingual Montessori Pre-School, where I worked as a teachers aide for the final three months I worked in Europe. I spent time with all of the pre-school children, but mostly taught the three and four year olds. I am experienced at teaching reading and early math, and I feel that even outside of the school environment I try to provide learning opportunities.

My additional/earlier childcare experience is extensive, including several live out positions with families in Virginia, and I would be happy to provide details if asked. I recently worked as a full time live-out nanny for a family with a two year old daughter and four month-old son; I have a great deal of experience working with infants, multiples (I was a nanny for three year-old triplets for several months) and older, school aged children.

I hope to work with children as a pre-school or grade school teacher in the future and someday attend graduate school in Early Childhood Education. I enjoy meeting new families and have remained close with those I have worked with over the years. I used Great Au Pair before and had a wonderful experience with Sofia.

My personal interests include reading, running, skiing, travel, horseback riding, cooking and spending time with friends.
