My name is Jano, and I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Kinetics and Ergonomics and History from Rhodes University. I am currently working as a Sports Assistant at St Andrew’s College, where I coach, mentor, and support students between the ages of 13 and 18. My academic background and experience have equipped me with the skills to guide, motivate, and care for young people in a way that encourages both personal and physical development.
Through my studies in Human Kinetics and Ergonomics, I gained a strong understanding of how the body and mind work together to promote healthy growth, balance, and well-being. Combined with my interest in History, this has helped me develop empathy, patience, and strong communication skills—all of which are essential when working with children.
At St Andrew’s College, I am responsible for coaching, planning activities, and mentoring students, which has taught me how to manage groups, adapt to individual needs, and maintain a structured, positive environment. I take pride in being approachable and creating spaces where children feel supported, respected, and encouraged to express themselves. My experience in this environment has also developed my ability to handle challenges calmly and to think on my feet, whether it’s resolving conflicts, motivating a child, or ensuring safety during activities.
I am level 3 First Aid and CPR certified, which ensures that I can act responsibly in any emergency. I also value organisation and reliability—qualities that I believe make a big difference in a family setting. Whether assisting with homework, preparing meals, maintaining routines, or planning fun and educational activities, I approach every task with professionalism and care.
What truly drives me is my passion for helping children grow into confident, well-rounded individuals. I believe that children learn best when they feel safe, supported, and understood. As an au pair, I would aim to create that balance—combining structure and discipline with warmth, fun, and creativity.
