Zachary is 11 and has just started Grade 6 at PaRK International School in Lisbon. He is bright, energetic, and creative, and genuinely loves football, jiu-jitsu, and exploring new ideas. Like many children his age, he sometimes struggles with focus and organisation, particularly as he learns how to manage his ADHD. What helps him most is a calm, structured environment, clear routines, and plenty of encouragement. He is kind-hearted and quick to connect with people who show him patience and consistency.

Alongside Zachary, you will also look after our dog, Simba — a friendly companion who enjoys walks and company during the day.

We are busy parents and want to ensure Zachary has the right balance of academic support, physical activity, and emotional stability. That’s why we are looking for someone who can not only collect him from school and help with homework, but also create an atmosphere of warmth, positivity, and structure in the afternoons.

Your role will include:

Picking Zachary up from school each day.

Helping him with homework by breaking tasks into clear steps and keeping him motivated.

Providing after-school structure — a healthy snack, time for physical activity, reading, or creative play.

Supporting him in developing independence with daily routines (organising his bag, preparing for the next day).

Caring for Simba during the day with feeding, short walks, and companionship.

Assisting with light housekeeping such as tidying, laundry, dishwasher, and light meal preparation.

Knowledge of ADHD strategies is an advantage, but what matters most is your willingness to engage with him in a way that is calm, encouraging, and consistent. You should also feel comfortable managing light household tasks and caring for a pet. Strong English is essential; Portuguese is helpful but not required.

We are an international family based in Carnaxide, Lisbon, looking for a reliable, caring, and proactive Family Assistant to support our 11-year-old son, Zachary, and our dog, Simba.

Your Responsibilities

Childcare & Education

Collect Zachary from school daily (PaRK IS, Carnaxide).

Supervise and support homework, using clear step-by-step guidance and positive reinforcement.

Provide after-school structure: snack, downtime, outdoor play, or enrichment activities.

Encourage routines such as preparing his school bag, reading time, and organisation.

Pet Care

Care for Simba during the day (feeding, short walks, companionship).

Household Support

Light housekeeping: tidying shared areas, laundry, dishwasher.

Light meal preparation for Zachary.

Maintain a calm, orderly environment to support focus and family routines.

Schedule

Monday to Friday, 10:00 – 18:00

In the morning, light household tasks and pet care.

Afternoon: collect Zachary, supervise homework, and provide after-school care.

Ideal Candidate

Patient, organised, and nurturing.

Experience supporting children (ADHD or additional needs a plus).

Confident in helping with schoolwork across Grade 6 subjects.

Fluent in English (Portuguese helpful but not required).

Comfortable with pets.

Proactive, reliable, and able to balance structure with warmth.

Driving licence preferred.
