We are a family of four living in downtown Shanghai. My husband and I are both white-collar professionals with a fairly manageable work schedule, so we can usually spend weekends together with the children. We have two kids and no pets. Our older child is 11 years old, going into 5th grade – he especially loves adventure stories and science fiction, and also enjoys playing chess and riding bikes. The younger one is 6, energetic and lively, passionate about drawing and crafts, and curious about everything new. We live in an apartment in the city centre, with a small park just downstairs and a metro station a few minutes' walk away – very convenient for daily life. Our family loves taking short trips to nearby places on weekends. We respect each other's personal space and also cherish our time together, so our home atmosphere is relaxed and warm. We believe that an au pair is not just a language teacher, but an extended member of our family – we hope she will share her own culture and be willing to join our everyday life.
