Family Essay
We are a family of 3, myself, significant other Jordan (Jackson’s dad) and Jackson who is 18 months old.
We are currently living in Hawaii as my Mom has cancer and we came home to be closer. We moved
from Minneapolis to Hawaii, the big island in a town called Kona on April 15th. We have a beautiful home
in the tropical jungle up on the mountain its about 1500 feet elevation, where there are pigs, chickens
and wildlife. We are about 10 minutes drive into town and the beach.
Jackson had a nanny from the age of 2 months to 13 months, then an au pair from Japan for 2 months
but unfortunately that didn’t work out, she was homesick, and did not seem engaged in the job, and
there was an accident, with the baby, she let him walk into dog bed and our dog nipped him on the face.
So we decided mutually to cancel our agreement. She returned home, dog was rehomed and thankfully
Jackson is doing much better.
We then decided to take care of him ourself with a few babysitters occasionally, but now that we are
settled into a routine here in Hawaii, we seek to try again and find an au pair that is committed to
keeping our son safe, that has experience being away from home for long periods of time and wants to
come to Hawaii. We have a nice room in our lower level and a small kitchen area. We will be bringing our
other two dogs from Minnesota here to Hawaii but they will be living outside primarily as the weather
here is very nice. So must be comfortable with dogs and keep baby away from the dogs. We will have
fences and separations.
Jackson is starting swim classes here, and we are trying to introduce new experiences for him such as
music and art we would love someone that can help create a plan for him to have opportunities. The
time needs will be mornings, and some part of afternoons, and few hours on weekends. There will be
plenty of time to go to the beach and enjoy nature. The schedule is somewhat flexible as I work remotely
and from home. We are non smokers and do no drink either. We like to travel as well about every couple
of months. We seek a 12 month commitment and would be open to another year renewal if it works for
everyone.
We like to cook and keep a clean living environment. We try to be peaceful and co-exist well. We would
love someone that is clean, can help with home chores, and is willing to cook too once in a while. We
like to eat family style and also are pretty quiet people. We may have a gathering at our home once
every few months, otherwise its fairly quiet and peacefu

Hours are 1 pm-7 pm Mon-Friday, and some weekend hours Saturday 8-1 and Sunday 1-6, it might shift in 3 months to be more morning hours on the weekdays from 7 am-3 pm. Then only one day on the weekend, max is 45 hours. Watching one 18 month old infant and being an extra set of hands. Assistance with some household chores, and errands.
