We moved to Minnesota from Los Angeles a few years ago and had a sweet little boy shortly after. I'm currently expecting a girl (due in August) and not only would I love the extra help, I'd also love the extra company. My husband and I both work full-time. I work from home most of the time, but need help looking after the kids and someone to drop off my son to Montessori 3x a week. We also travel quite a bit, sometimes I travel by myself with the kids to visit family or meet my husband on one of his business trips. It would be nice to have some extra help while we are doing that and I think it would be a great opportunity for the au pair to travel around the US. I also want to encourage my children to learn multiple languages and experience different cultures.
Typical duties would include feeding the kids their meals (I'll typically help with meals, but would also love for the au pair to cook some meals for the kids as well), get them ready for the day, (if needed), drop and pick up our son from Montessori, keep the kids engaged with activities, and help with laundry for the kids and keeping their play room tidy. If an au pair has experience with potty training, that would be fantastic as well!
