Highly developed interpersonal skills
I have great interpersonal skills and this is evident in the fact that I am able to blend into a group of people with ease. I am currently working for an Emirati family for the past 8 years. The family have 5 children 2 of the children have learning difficulties age ranging from 13, 12, 10, 8 and 5. The house is fully staffed I am employed as a private tutor as well as teaching the children Karate and swimming. I also worked at an IB school in Dubai for 4 years. Head of Pre-School 3-5 years old children at an International Baccalaureate ‘IB’ school In Norway. IB focuses on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both in the classroom and in the world outside.
In 2010 and 2011 I was the Head Pre-School Teacher 3 year old and 4 year old classes at Quality School international Dili, Timor Leste. In 2009 I was the Head teacher of Grade one and two composite class where I engage learning opportunities that keep the children participating actively in class. In 2001 I had the pleasure of working in Japanese Primary schools. From this I have found my passion and preferred areas of teaching, which is with younger children. I taught children from the ages of 6-12 years of age, half of the lessons were structured and conducted by myself and the other half was team teaching with a Japanese Primary School teacher.
Since February 2004, I have been teaching in International Kindergartens and Schools in Dubai, Norway, Timor Leste, Japan and Bali. I have found it to be a great experience working with foreign children and a team of teachers and assistants in a multicultural setting. In Timor Leste, Bali, and Japan the children are native speakers of English and the teaching is that set for native students rather than that of teaching English, as a Second Language that is more repetitious that I have previously taught and have a lot of experience with both adults and children. More importantly, as I have studied foreign languages, I understand the process involved in learning a foreign language. I believe I can relate to children and I have the ability to aid their learning, serve their needs, wants and problems.
I have met and associated with people of different and varying backgrounds and personalities without any difficulties whatsoever. This I believe is a great attribute for a teacher in an emerging multicultural world.
